Pick up the Pen Girlfriend, Let’s Journal
We know, we know.
We sound like a broken tape recorder….. do this self-care practice, get quiet, take time to reflect, carve out time to take care of you, and yet here we are, dropping another podcast on this same topic.

But it’s not a coincidence that we’re preaching the same message ladies, there’s a deep thread of TRUTH behind today’s conversation, and that truth is – it works. When we commit to a practice, like journaling, that requires vulnerability, honesty, and reflection, we begin to rewire habits that are deeply ingrained in our day-to-day.
Habits like: chasing perfectionism, responding with anger, spiraling into a negative self-talk vortex. doubting our potential, not taking the next step towards our dreams, eating what doesn’t serve us – just to name a few.
And in place, we build new habits, habits that serve us and guide us on this whole living our truth + daring to change thing.
But if this is what’s waiting on the other side, then why do we *cough, cough – Allie* not pick up our PENS and start writing (Carl’s got this practice down already)! Why do we shy away from something that’s free, easily accessible, and that offers profound benefits.
Well, you tell us, do thoughts like this sound familiar:
- what he hell will I write
- I don’t have time for that
- what’s the point
- my thoughts aren’t worthy of even being written down
- will this really work
- and, I have a terrible handwriting (guilty)
We feel you and we’ve been here too.
But, we’ve also learned the amazing benefits of this practice, motivating us to put down the negative thoughts, and pick up our pens instead. Think benefits like: decreasing anxiety and anger, lessoning the emotional impact of hardships, boosting your immunity, help with processing overwhelming feelings and regrets, and reducing daily stress – just to name a few.
