Episode 61: Group Therapy with Alyssa Kuzins
This week, we’re chatting with our dear friend and entrepreneur boss babe, Alyssa Kuzins of the Journal Deck. But, this episode is very different than our usual interviews. In fact, we don’t even want to call it an interview. Instead, think of it as three girlfriends getting together, drinking wine, and leaving it all out on the table.
Here’s how it went down: we had an entire outline planned for this conversation… which we always do when we interview a guest. But, when we got on the call with Alyssa, things just started flowing. And so, we said “screw it” to the outline and we just pressed record. What transcribed was a beautifully healing conversation about:
- … and just trying to figure it all out.
We’ve never had an episode quite like this, and while it’s a little scary to share this openly with all of you, it’s also really really liberating. There’s a quote that says, “you cannot heal in the same place where you got sick.” To us, this means you cannot being to transform your life if you stay where you are. Part of getting out of that place is by having honest, raw, and sometimes scary conversations. That’s what this conversation is.
Welcome to group therapy, girlfriend style.
…. Oh yeah, and if Alyssa’s name is sounds familiar to you, that’s because we’ve actually had her on the show before (TAD #14). She’s kind of a jack of all trades. She’s a yoga/meditation teacher and women’s coach, she’s the creator of the Journal Deck, and she’s the head chief babe of her monthly membership community, the Self Care Collective. Trust us, you want her in your life.
It really is so much better when we’re in it together and we hope that this conversation inspires you, shows you a little more of who we are, and makes you feel less alone.
Ready to feel the feels?
Mentioned in this Episode:
Sometimes the Universe will try to “wake you and shake you” until you realize it is time to wake up.
We have to go through the reckoning in order to make sense of our purpose.
It’s so easy to fall off the path, we all do it. Don’t be ashamed of it.
We call it alignment, but it’s not linear. It takes twists, turns, back roads, and craziness to get where you’re trying to go.
There is an uphill climb when you decide to do things for yourself, be gentle with yourself.
All of life is ebb and flow – sometimes it’s going to feel like an ebb and sometimes it’s going to feel like a flow. This is the same for your personal life, money, experiences, relationships, etc.
Ask yourself: how do I want to feel?
When you honor your soul, that is where you find ease.
- Find the small ways to lead yourself down the path of where you want to be. Focus on non-attachment and self-belief.
Think about how much we can manifest if we simply begin to slightly change the way we think?
Vulnerability is courage.
What is so different between you and the people you look up to?
People who align more with feminine energy are in a flow state, while people who align more with masculine energy are in a stable state.
Find a girlfriend and ask her: How is your heart?
