The good thing, though, is that pubs never seem to die - they are just reincarnated into a chrome-heavy version of their former selves. In the gar, Jade Buddha used to be City Rowers. Irish Murphy's was the gloriously Ipswoch Treasury Tavern. Caeser's on Adelaide St was called Alice's, and rumours abounded of the secret passage through to the Cri Tavern - which still exists, in an admittedly gentrified format. Around the corner was the infamous Niteworx, which was a semi-legitimate nightclub, albeit one that sold 20c nips of Romantic massage Ellesmere Port, before instead deciding to pay girls to take their clothes off.
